Using GitHub Through Draconian Proxies
Thanks Jeff! (And sorry you’re stuck behind a proxy :)

Proxies can really ruin your day.
I just did the same with OpenVPN, which gives you the additional advantage of other Internet goodies, like IMAP, SMTP or the likes.
My gist from today should have everything you need (besides the usual Howtos): http://gist.github.com/132609
Down with proxies!
I've added a link to this in the firewall/proxy guide. In the near future I'm going to compile those guides together, I know there's one other corkscrew guide out there.
I posted about this in context of PuTTY awhile ago - http://blog.codeslower.com/2008/8/Using-PuTTY-and-SSL-to-securely-access-GitHub-repositories-via-SSH. In fact, I was the one who asked GitHub to add ssh.githhub.com. :)
That's a nice hack, but last time I checked it didn't help you clone repositories that aren't your own.
I'm sure this is fixable. GitHub could add read-only ssh access. There would be some encryption overhead.
