This is a fork of Infinite Red's excellent vim theme:

I needed to change some values around to get it to work on my box, and I'm really just putting it on GitHub so I can get 
it on my backup machine and my next machine whenever I get it.

In brief, I commented out some lines that caused unexpected/undesired results. Really the author is Todd Werth.

To use this, drop it in here:

  ~/.vim/colors/ir_black.vim

And then add this line to your .vimrc:

  :colorscheme ir_black

By the way, it doesn't look bad on a white background, either.
