The bottom argument of hist() is not in the documentation for version 1.3.1: http://matplotlib.org/api/pyplot_api.html#matplotlib.pyplot.hist.

It would be useful to add its semantics in the documentation.

Can you check the doc sting on master? I seem to remember doing something about this a while ago (on my phone which makes it hard to check my self).

I just had a look and found after much searching

@docstring.dedent_interpd
.

There is no definition of what bottom does (except for a hint in the case of horizontal bars).
