I usually save (by hand) quite a few charts made with matplotlib
I, kind of, got tired of browsing to that path I want, after pressing 'save button'.
I know I can use savefig(), but path usually changes each time, and I'm used already to 'save button'.

My configuration: mac osx 10.9.3, anaconda, python 2.7.7, matplotlib 1.3.1
