Here's the controversial PR! I'm still of two minds as to whether we should be in/out (I lean more towards in than out, but I'm close either way).

There's a lot to cover in just one 'comment' box, but to start with I'd take issue with the statement that the EU has brought "economic prosperity". There are plenty in Ireland, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Greece who would disagree with that statement, although I recognise that's more a Eurozone issue, than an EU issue.

Agreed, but we do need to distinguish the various parts here, and we shouldn't let Eurozone issues influence our thoughts on the EU more generally. I'm fairly sure there is some research on economic benefits of EU membership that I should include as evidence.

http://www.parliament.uk/briefing-papers/sn06730.pdf looks relevant, though I've not read it through yet.

Good stuff. Would be nice to have something stronger on democratic reform though.

Yes, I definitely think this is an area that will get fleshed out more, but this is just a starting point and a direction.

I remain heavily skeptical as to the likelihood of reform; whilst remaining keen on the 'idea/principles' of what the EU was originally set up to do.

| wouldn't want to see us leave yet so I'm 👍 on this PR as I think we should still be sitting at the table, but keeping one eye on the nearest door to make a swift exit if needs be. Sorry that's a bit of a stretched metaphor!

👍 I concur, even the metaphor ;)
