rewrote the parser. It's not done yet, not even close. Added a 23-line 
comment to scare people off trying to modify the parser.

been working on the parser this morning. It's not ready, but it's getting 
better. Tests still fail, but I need to get off train in a minute. Updated 
test cases so that the example actually conforms to the striping pattern 
(bit silly to have a test which purports to test the striping pattern if 
it doesn't). Will hopefully fix up over the weekend, or next week.

created dependencies task so that developers can automatically install 
dependent gems - when I create a proper gem out of the code, this won't be 
necessary, so it can be removed
