Maybe I am missing something but in order to install dependencies of the plugin I had to use pyproject.toml instead of
setup.py
# any additional requirements (besides OctoPrint) should be listed here ...

Defaults should detect if package already starts with octoprint and so it shouldnt be appended to defaults.
$ cookiecutter gh:OctoPrint/cookiecutter-octoprint-plugin
