addresses/fixes (partially) the following:
while I agree that the solution proposed in #45617 / #31609 (comment) seems to be the best one, I hope this PR can provide a temporary solution until that one is implemented. Hiding minimap seems to be a popular request.
I followed closely the pattern used in 77882bf (hiding line numbers in zen)
