For a bit more context on tooling, we have made the New Architecture check a part of expo install process:

• [cli] add New Architecture check for installed packages, other tweaks expo/expo#31222

And, we also run the check as part of expo-doctor tasks:

Closing this one since, it was not exactly an issue with the Directory, it was just a heads up for us! 🙂
