Please consider using something like Algolia's DocSearch. It's used on several documentation websites and seems to work well.

Yes, please!

It's really frustrating trying to track down the documentation of something I see mentioned on one page but that is documented elsewhere and having to resort guessing what page might have the relevant docs and using the browser's find to search each subsequent page. 😞
