Thanks for trying out the Prompt API. Please use this thread to tell us about your use-cases for built-in SLMs, provide feedback about the model and API design, challenges and considerations, etc. We'd love to understand how to improve the Prompt API in Edge to meet your needs!

Hello Team!

First, you implemented a great feature!!!

I have a new Surface Laptop 7th Edition with an ARM chip and a Qualcomm Adreno GPU with 8Gb, but I have a "The device's GPU is not supported" message on the device performance page.

Why is it not supported? I think I have the minimum requirements.

Thanks for your support.

@adiazcan apologies for the late reply.

Your Surface Laptop 7 is, indeed, capable of supporting the Prompt API. Unfortunately, there is a known issues with Qualcomm driver version 31.0.84.0 (I suspect this is what you have; you can check your driver version at edge://gpu > GL_RENDERER). Qualcomm's next driver update (version 31.0.96.0) is yet to be made broadly available via Windows Update.

If you're okay with testing out a pre-release version of the driver, you can install it from Qualcomm's website: https://softwarecenter.qualcomm.com/catalog/item/Windows_Graphics_Driver?osArch=ARM64&osType=Windows (Note that this is intended for developer testing and comes with some risk).

For what it's worth, I have the same device as you, ran into the same issue, and have been testing QC driver 31.0.96.0, and the Prompt API works for me.
