Can you share the Edge team's plans? Once there is a prototype that can be tested, it will help to give feedback on issues.

Prototyping in Chromium is currently underway; we're hoping to have something ready for testing around June. You can follow progress at:

Thanks to the work of the Edge team, we can now test the feature in Chrome Canary or Edge Canary.

Just enable chrome://flags/#enable-experimental-web-platform-features flag.
