git pull consumes 100% CPU and freeze

I had been using a snapshot build due to #5461, but today, while pulling one of my repositories, Git froze with CPU usage at 100%  during the "Receiving objects" phase. The issue persisted even after upgrading to the build of April 16 and rolling back to the release build resolved the problem.
