[Problem/Bug]: 1.0.2151.40 .NET Performance Regression?

What happened?

This is somewhat subjective, but in my application I'm noticing quite a bit of lag instantiating the WebView control with the latest 1.0.2151.40 release of the .NET library.

Switching back and forth between the previous version 1.0.2008.41 and the above there's a noticeable slowdown in first render and activation. The old version pretty much snapped into place with the slightest hint of lag, while the new version the WV control comes up blank first for a fraction of a second before filling.

Doing many A/B runs it's quite noticeable.

This appears to be an issue with the .NET (WPF) library, not the runtime as in the A/B tests the runtime stays the same.

Moderate. My app's user experience is affected, but still usable.

Hi @RickStrahl,

Have you observed this issue in any other machines? Can you reproduce with our WPF Sample App? Or can you share any numbers or a sample project where the issue can be reproduced?

I have checked with our WPF sample app and can't perceive any difference; also reviewed the changes in between the referenced versions and could not identify any which would impact launch/first render time. In any case, it is unlikely that a change to the .NET API would introduce performance regressions, so I think this might be machine/app specific, but if you have more data suggesting otherwise, please feel free to share.

Also, does this happen for local or network resources?
