Introduced in 2003 by Farhat and Chandesris {% cite FarhatEtAl2003 %}. Augmented with a convergence accelerator later {% cite FarhatCortial2006 %} {% cite CortialFarhat2009 %}. PITA is closely related to Parareal but uses a slightly different correction.
