[Bug]: some small issues on the welcome screen

What happened?

I was going to look into this myself and might still do and provide a fix, but here it is for now to document my experience with the Armbian Welcome screen. Before anything else, I would like to say how much I really like this wealth of information displayed in a concise spot at login.

First two questions, if I may; How to go from rolling releases to stable on the Banana Pi M2+ and how to disable automatic kernel upgrades? Is that possible?

Secondly, as you can see there are two alignment issues with the storage information. Lastly, the link given for the web interface is correct but not working in my case. I can only access the machine at banana.local. The LAN DNS server does not know about the host banana.

Furthermore, when running run-parts /etc/update-motd.d the last two lines with the information about the web interface and the last login are not present. Where are they coming from?

I quickly checked motd scripts, and found why your indentation is a bit unaligned.
That is a code responsible for displaying the lines CPU temp and storage, and they have different amount of spaces at the start. You can change it yourself on your board, by editing those lines in /etc/update-motd.d/30-armbian-sysinfo file. Personally i do not know why is indentation different between those lines, maybe anyone from active contributors can explain it.

The line with last login, is being printed by sshd,that's why you can't see it by running motd scripts. You can disable/enable verbosity of last login by editing sshd config file in /etc/ssh/sshd_config:

PrintLastLog no

And what about web console messages, they are triggered by Cockpit , you can find code responsible for this in /usr/share/cockpit/motd/update-motd file.

To disable this message you can comment last line, or remove /run/cockpit/active.motd file, but that will work only in current session, after reboot message will appear again.
