More options when opening vscode:chat-prompt links in VS Code

The current flow just allows saving, which is a big step from clicking a link on a website.

I suggest we also support simpler options:

• Open the file (flow to quickly edit, run and/or save later)
• Add to chat (click to run flow)

The file is opened in the editor after the import and the play button is one click away.

Auto run could be problematic for a security standpoint as you have not seen the content, and this could trigger an agent that can do a lot.

But it still is added somewhere on the user machine; if the user doesn't want it they have to go into the manage pickers to delete it (for user files at least).

Add to chat (click to run flow) … could trigger an agent that can do a lot.

Add to chat would not auto-run, so I don't think it makes this security problem worse.

Maybe others have similar feelings once we have more links being adopted.

What do you mean by Add to chat then? Note that users don't add prompts as attachments anymore but instead run them as slash commands. So would it mean to populate the input box with the slash command?

Ah, do you mean insert the content into the chat without creating a prompt file?
