0.14.1 changes the archive name format

New:

Old:

https://ziglang.org/download/${VERSION}/zig-${OS}-${ARCH}-${VERSION}.tar.xz

Expected Behavior

No changes like this in patch releases.

Intentional. It's irrelevant that this is a patch release because it's a property of how we distribute tarballs, not of the release of Zig.

Any affected third-party tooling should be updated by the author. setup-zig has been; if you're having issues with it, make sure you're running v2 rather than v1.

I don’t think it’s irrelevant, as it breaks existing toolings. As I said, it just looks extremely bad to not be considerate of your user base.

...did you think the website's tarball distribution format was going to be identical, forever? Short of that assumption, I don't see how this indicates the Zig project "not being considerate of its user base". We intentionally preserved the old name format for old tarballs so as to prevent breaking existing tooling too badly, meaning they can adapt to the change with minimal problems.

Regardless of your opinions on this change, it is done. The new name format is a win for consistency, and tooling has already updated to deal with it, so reverting it would only be another case of "not being considerate to the user base".
