Sponsor spf13 🚀
👋 Hello, Open Source Community!
I'm Steve Francia (spf13), an independent open source developer who has created and maintained some of the most widely-used Go libraries and tools in the ecosystem.
My Work 🛠️
My passion is building simple, powerful tools that developers love. I'm the creator / maintainer of:
-
Hugo 🏎️: The world's fastest framework for building websites
-
Cobra 🐍: A library for creating powerful modern CLI applications
-
Viper 🔧: A complete configuration solution for Go applications
-
Afero 📂: A filesystem abstraction system for Go
-
pflag 🚩: Drop-in replacement for Go's flag package
These projects are free and open source under permissive licenses. However, maintaining them, supporting users, and coordinating community efforts is only sustainable with the support of sponsors like you.
Why Sponsor? 🤔
For Businesses 💼
spf13 reaches a huge audience of developers who build modern infrastructure and web applications.
When you sponsor these open source tools, you're not just advertising—you're joining a community.
What happens when your company supports Cobra, Viper, Afero, PFlag or Hugo?
-
You protect your investment. If your revenue depends on these tools, their health impacts your future.
-
You stand out. In a world where everyone claims to value developers, you actually show it.
For companies selling to developers, this isn't just goodwill—it's targeted marketing to exactly the right audience. Every visitor is a potential customer who already speaks your language.
It works because it's authentic. Support the tools, connect with the people who use them, and watch your brand grow in a space where attention can't be bought—only earned.
For Individuals ☕
Every day, thousands of us use tools that someone else built with care and shared freely.
I'm grateful for everyone who has found value in the tools I've created and I'm even more grateful when you choose to go further.
Individual sponsorship isn't about the amount—it's about participation. When you contribute even a small amount to the tools that power your work, you're not just saying "thanks"—you're voting for their future. Your support means I can keep maintaining what you rely on, and it fuels the creation of new tools that might solve tomorrow's problems.
This connection matters more than you know. Each notification of a new sponsor brightens my day and reinforces that this work has real impact.
Can't contribute financially? You have another kind of leverage. That company paying your salary? They're benefiting from these tools too, often substantially. Your voice within those walls matters.
When you advocate for your employer to sponsor, you create a multiplier effect that far exceeds what you could contribute alone. These organizational sponsorships are truly transformative, and I'm enormously appreciative of every company that steps up.
The most vibrant open source communities are built on this circle of giving and gratitude. Your sponsorship isn't just received—it's remembered and reciprocated through continued dedication to quality.
Thank you to everyone who has already chosen to support this journey. You're not just funding code; you're fueling passion.
My Open Source Journey 🧭
I've dedicated over two decades to creating tools that make developers more productive. What started as simple utilities evolved into projects used by millions worldwide.
When I created Cobra and Viper, I wanted to simplify building CLI apps and managing configuration. Hugo began as an experiment to build a faster static site generator and now powers hundreds of thousands of websites.
While I've worked with great companies like Google & MongoDB, my passion has always been building open source tools that empower the development community. Your sponsorship helps me continue this mission independently.
Thank You ❤️
Your sponsorship supports the continuation of this work—the next two decades of solving problems worth solving. It enables independence that translates directly into innovation.
When you sponsor this work, you're investing in tools that haven't been imagined yet, but will someday make you wonder how you worked without them.
Thank you for being part of this journey.
