Windows Version

Microsoft Windows [Version 10.0.26100.3194]

WSL Version

2.4.12.0

Are you using WSL 1 or WSL 2?

  • WSL 2
  • WSL 1

Kernel Version

5.15.167.4-1

Distro Version

Ubuntu 24.04.2 LTS

Other Software

Docker Desktop 4.38.0

Repro Steps

Launch Docker Desktop which effectively starts docker desktop distribution with Ubuntu distro.

Expected Behavior

WSL with docker desktop works without crashes.

Actual Behavior

WSL crashes approximately every 30 mins, or earlier. I also have this application error in my Event Viewer when this happens:

Faulting application name: vmwp.exe, version: 10.0.26100.3037, time stamp: 0x6ee7a105
Faulting module name: ntdll.dll, version: 10.0.26100.3037, time stamp: 0x95e6c489

Faulting module path: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\ntdll.dll
Report Id: 9b1e2b73-982a-4aff-a046-188a2a9f1098
Faulting package full name:
Faulting package-relative application ID:

It's worth pointing out that I've installed WSL 2.4.12 pre-release version, however I've experienced the same behavior on WSL 2.4.11

Thank you for reporting this @muchocommit. Could you follow the 11) Reporting a WSL process crash
section to share the crash dump with us ?

@OneBlue Thanks for your reply. I've installed newer VM - Esxi 7.0 instead of previous VM - Esxi 6.7 version on my Windows Server 2025 Datacenter and the problem disappeared.
