The deciliter, which is 1/10th of a liter, is used universally in food recipes (both on packages and on recipe sites) and occasionally on measurement mugs throughout the Nordics, and is currently missing from the dropdown in the Volume measurement menu.
Evidence or User Insights
The deciliter is used in almost all, if not all, recipes up here, and the milliliter is not something we're used to for cooking. Recipes on the packages for e.g. powder sauces describe the recommend water as for instance 5dl, and not as 500ml or 0.5L, as can be seen here on the back of a package for gravy (Source: https://www.nonfood.no/vare/566950):
The same goes for milk and liquid cream. (Soda is most of the time given in centiliter for unclear reasons, while housecleaning items and some fancier food products like dressings and bottled squished fruits are given in milliliter).
Proposal
Norwegians typically struggle a lot to figure out and convert how much of each ingredient that is needed for recipes they found on American cooking websites, so adding the deciliter will help the conversion processes a bit.
Goals
Using the deciliter to convert to/from other volume measures, especially liquid ones.
Non-Goals
None that I can come up with.
Low-Fidelity Concept
Requested Assignment
✓ If possible, I would like to implement this.
