Hi @laarisyko, This is a very interesting one. I do think it would be possible, although it would be a rather significant addition to the codebase. I will keep it as an option for a new feature in the roadmap. We have several other high priority tasks we're working on first, but if someone wants to pick this up, then I'd gladly merge a PR. I'm sure there are existing libraries that can read STL files, so the extension would primarily require building some translation code between the STL surfaces and the structure used in Optiland. If non-sequential ray tracing is required, then this addition will be much more difficult, though still not out of the question. This is on the long-term roadmap. Thanks for the suggestion! Kramer |

It would be great if one could import STL files and asign a complex refractive index and its orientation in 3D sapce (6 coordinates). It would make the life extremly easy for bignners. In my case I want to to raytrace multiple prisms with total internal reflection in 3D. I want to ensure that polarization is tracked and the complex amplitudes.
