vcgencmd install

Your article was one of the only ones I was able to find on the installation of vcgencmd on pi4 and Ubuntu 20.04. After using your method I found out you can just install it using the package libraspberrypi-bin. I didn't find any documentation on this any where in Ubuntu, but found it else ware. I wanted to let you know since this seems to be supported and hidden and you won't have to go through a build of vcgencmd for any of your pis. Plus makes it easier to upgrade and automate.

If you want to install this package you have to remove libvchiq_arm.so, libvcos.so, and the vcgencmd. The package will not overwrite these.

Also rpi-eeprom can be installed as well to update the eeprom.
