Help Users Spot Pending Invitations

It can be unclear to a new user that their invitation is still pending. I could see that I was authenticated via wiki in that I had an account page and a logged in state. How can a pending user invitation be made more clear?

The way linkedin does it, is to have both an email and an server side
"website" message. So when you log in, you have to also acknowledge the
"website" message and it serves as a reminder until you do.
