Originally I tried replacing <data:post.author/> with a b:includable.

<a rel='author' expr:href='"http://mystady.com/p/about.html#" + data:post.author'><b:include name='PostAuthorTweak' data='post'/></a>

That worked for the display name but I'd forgotten about data:post.author in the href. How do I replace that with a b:include? Well, I can't. Or can I? Hmm, that's a question for the Developer boards.

It can't be helped and that's why we include the hyperlink.

UPDATE: Possible but not worth it. Thank for the help, Ben!

Using author would make for smaller code but using the authorUrl ensures the code still works after a name change.

Why direct users to an about page instead of Google+? Branding. I need to work on that about page though.

rel='author' prevents me from using a single b:includable for both posts and comments.

Formatting this last line any other way adds a character of whitespace. I don't care for that type of chaos! (I only noticed it because the hyperlinks are underlined.)

Problem

By linking my Blogger profile to Google+ my entire name is attributed to blog posts instead of just my first name. I understand why Google wants people to use their real names instead of pseudonyms and I actually do go by my real name on the Internet. My first name. I really don't need the entire thing on display. My name is part of my branding and Google+ is seriously throwing a wrench into that. On Google+ you can have just your first name displayed, I don't see why they don't let you do that on Blogger. My last name isn't a secret it's just unnecessary for this purpose.

Solution

Modify the template. Duh! Oh, you want details? Scroll up!
