System: Win 7 64 bit 2GB ram/ Core2 duo/ Geforce9800 GPU. Setup using retroarch & cores. When I run the application the GUI displays white background and gray boxes for text. I can interact with it blindly, as I learned from looking at the log file showing I was mapping my keyboard. I followed the instructions on this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eLlWfgLvG64 and used the config file provided by the video uploader.

CFG file:
untitled

CFGs point to %HOMEPATH%.emulationstation\systems\retroarch%CORES%

What am I doing wrong?

Are your video card drivers up to date?

They are the latest Nvidia drivers. Here's what I get when I run it:

Same happens on the raspberry if you add too many emulators at once, try remove one rom dir at a time to see if it fixes it.

Your graphics card does not support the version of OpenGL EmulationStation needs. You should get a new one. I had the same issue trying to run ES inside a virtual machine which had not the drivers to support the needed version of OpenGL.
