Probably worth investigating how Jetpack runs their phpcs setup as they're merging frequently into dotcom but this works reliably up and until latest PHP versions

@mattwiebe yes the latest release of WPCS is not compatible with PHP 8.x, you need to use the develop branch if you want these to work with PHP 8.x.

Although 3512206 brings us into conformance with the new set of sniffs, it also appears overall more strict than what I was seeing on the wpcom side. In any case these seem good.
