Research Table loaded with supplies
Open GUI
Can use supplies and craft theories for 7-10 seconds
"Refill Scribing Tools" & "Paper" error
Exit GUI
Re-Open GUI
Repeat.

Seems like if I don't mouseover any options when I open the GUI then I won't get an error.

As a suggestion, would be awesome to be able to shift-click items into their respective areas. (This works for crystals on Arcane Workbench)

Using Minecraft 1.12.2 and forge 14.23.4.2765
Using Thaumcraft-1.12.2-6.1.BETA25 (from curseforge)
I have about 92 other mods.

As a second suggestion it would be nice if we could store celestial notes in the research table

Also seeing this in the "Evil Genius" modpack. Most list of pack here: https://minecraft.curseforge.com/projects/evil-genius/relations/dependencies

I am having the same problem with every Thaumcraft workbench... It's impossible to make a complicated focus.

Edit: for anyone having this issue, I have found a... Solution? Workaround? I don't even know. So I've tried everything from messing with minecraft settings, mod settings, RAM usage etc. and I was still having this issue, items randomly vanishing within the thaumcraft crafting interfaces. Finally as a last ditch effort, I picked up my research table, focal manipulator, and writing desk and placed them:

  1. far away from all of my power generators
  2. Away from my Ae2 terminals and
  3. relatively far from each other (2-3 blocks)

Somehow, one or another of these things worked and I am no longer having the problem. Placing any of them back in the main crafting area in my base makes them all buggy again. I know for a fact each of the crafting interfaces was touching an ae2 cable anywhere in their original room, and I suspect that to be the most likely culprit but they were also fairly close to my big reactor and near all of my machines and ae2 terminals, and the modpack mentioned by Nocty201 does not have ae2 installed so... Who knows.

That's an interesting observation.

At the time I would not have had any Refined Storage (AE2 clone) stuff at all, and only a few Thermal Expansion generators "nearby" (as in, likely 10-30 blocks away).

Since I wrote the initial comment, I've moved my TC6 stuff far from my base (because of the usual concerns) so will have to revisit the table and see if it's any better or worse. The satellite base has some power generation though to run RFTools teleporters.

I have also since noticed one of the Gold Chests (From the Iron Chests mod) will sometimes blank out it's inventory, though only as a visual effect. This appears very similar (if not the same) as the research table issue which has me scratching my head if it's linked or a red herring.

(edit/addition)

Pack has updated, still using Beta26 of Thaumcraft but newer versions of other mods.

My secondary "hut" has only vanilla/TC6 items in it, along with the RFtools transporter/receiver/dialler/checker. The Thermal expansion stuff is outside and consists of grassoline in a tank, feeding two compression dynamos which top up an energy cell. Pics available if needed.

I did about a dozen researches tonight to test, and the issue seems to be gone. This included a bunch where I teleported back and forth collecting items to use in the research, melt for essentia/crystals, or to refill ink/paper supplies.

I don't know what to suggest next to try to isolate the cause of the problem.

Fascinating... What I find really weird is that we don't seem to have a single mod in common other than thaumcraft. I have an extreme reactor powering my entire base, with thermal expansion and ender i/o machines, and applied energistics 2 autocrafting and storage set up. There's a single extra utilities 2 machine (the dragon egg mill) in the area but and some astral sorcery stuff further up in the chunk (the top of my house), but they were all at least a chunk away horizontally as well. Maybe rather than being an incompatibility with a specific mod, it has something to do with how much is going on in the area? If a lot of power is being moved and generated it must use a lot of background scripts or something, maybe that is what is causing a conflict? For reference I have an 8x intel core i7-6700 cpu, gtx 1060 6gb FE, and 8-18G ram allocated out of 24.

It seems there are few common mods in play. eg. Nuclearcraft vs ER is another point of difference.

(spoilers to those new to TC6 follow)

I moved all my alchemy stuff around 8-10 chunks away so I wouldn't taint up my home base area. It's in a "nuclear wasteland" biome (from NuclearCraft) while the "main base" area is in a BoP "grassy" type area.

In theory, java should isolate the hardware from the code; in turn minecraft and forge should isolate TC6 from java's abstraction layer as well. I'm not sure if it's appropriate to point the finger at the hardware yet, but for what it's worth I'm using an i7-4790(?)@4GHz/GTX970 with 8 of 16Gb RAM allocated to java.

I wonder if Forge/FML is a likely suspect? It would be a possible common point for a lot of mods (TC6/Iron Chests) and handles a lot of the "low level" parts of modded minecraft. When I have time, I'll check what versions are installed on the two installs of the modpack I'm using and edit it into this post. I did a fresh install and copied the save/config rather than an in-place update so I could roll back if need be - I'm a little paranoid like that.

(edit)

EG v1.03 uses Forge 14.23.5.2768 and 1.08 uses Forge 14.23.5.2776

I've been having this issue as well, playing FTB Revelations 1.3.0. So far, I've only experienced this issue when the GUI TileEntities in question have been placed in the same chunk, and even then, it has only happened to me in spawn chunks. Has anyone else observed a similar behavior?
