After creating my feed, to ensure it is valid, I pasted the feed url into validator.w3c.org and I got the result that though the xml is well formed, it is missing a necessary doctype and no gaurantee that it may work.

Recommends that a doctype be included so a browser knows how to handle same. Since that was just a warning I proceeded to include the url in my mobile app just as I have done with a similar feed url from CNN. The CNN feed url worked while mine shows an empty table implying unable to retrieve or read the feed channel.

What do I need to do to fix this issue? How does one include the proper doctype as I don't see anything in the backend for this option? Is there a file I need to modify?

Thanks

While this warning may not be a show stopper, I think the error I got while installing podcast manager suite of apps may be the real culprit here.

ID3 tags invalid or missing --- something to that effect. Without valid ID3 tags I may not be able to pull up the feed items which is where I am now. Please help or point me in the right direction. Thx

The ID3 tags messages aren't a big deal. I needed a way to catch real errors from getID3, but the choice is either a metric crapton of annoying messages not applicable to 99% of users or missing potential real errors. sigh

As far as the doc type goes, let me look at JDocument and see if there's something else I should be setting. I already set the mime type at https://github.com/mbabker/Podcast-Manager/blob/master/com_podcastmanager/site/views/feed/view.raw.php#L80 so maybe there's something else I'm missing. The other thing is it seems like there's plugins that may be forcing the doc type to HTML even though the output is indeed the XML, so maybe I need to add a hack to bypass that too, sadly.

Does podcastmanager submit my feed to iTunes or I have to that myself? I am suspecting that's probably why the link to the feed from my mobile device is not showing the feed listing. How do I submit the feed to iTunes? Thx for your urgent and usual response.

You have to submit it. In iTunes, go to the iTunes Store, click the Podcasts submenu at the top, and click the Submit a Podcast link.
