Socky is push server for Ruby on Rails based on WebSockets. It allows you to break border between your application and client browser by letting the server initialize a connection and push data to the client.
- Install the socky server gem
gem install socky-server
- Install the socky-client and socky-client-rails gems
- Generate Rails config file:
- Generate Socky config file:
socky -g config/socky.yml
- Uncomment two lines in
:subscribe_url: http://localhost:3000/socky/subscribe :unsubscribe_url: http://localhost:3000/socky/unsubscribe
- Run Socky server
socky -c config/socky.yml
- Run Rails app
- Point to http://localhost:3000
