Heimdall 1.4.0 install fails on OS X El Capitan 10.11.6

Downloaded heimdall 1.4.0 from Heimdall Homepage.

Tried to install and got a warning that Application is not compatible with my OS X version.

Continued installation anyway, which failed.

What is the recommended way to install heimdall on El Capitan? Build from source?

Any update on this? Get the same error when installing OS High Sierra

There's an unofficial version 1.4.1 on the project's bitbucket site.

That one seems to install ok.
