The problematic line:

url=$(cat "$file" | sed -rn "s/^$1\t+([^\t]+)$/\1/p")

This appears to be due to differences between GNU sed (which ships with Linux) and FreeBSD (2005) sed (which ships with MacOS) - see https://unix.stackexchange.com/a/131940.
