Song Book

The song book is a list of known magical songs. Some musical creatures can perform a form of magic using songs. The songs cannot create matter, but can manipulate it. This list is by no means complete as musical assemblies are still creating new songs.

  • Song glow: Causes the singer to glow brightly, allowing an area to be lit up.
  • Soundwave: When uncontrolled this song sends a shockwave out in all directions, but with some effort it can be focused into a cone which amplifies its effect.
  • Listen: Enhances the singers hearing, making creatures easier to hear, though harder to understand.
  • Earth ballad: Some singers can use this to hear songs from the past, though unlike a magic aura it tells stories (such as a battle) rather than direct information. Some very strong singers can also use this to listen to songs from the future.
  • Songlink: Allows the singer to connect with other musical beings and exchange information with other musical beings through song. Similar to listen, but the target needs to consent and the singer can be heard. If the other being also can perform a songlink, then the song is more effective.
  • Illusion: Causes a target to see and hear things that are not actually there. Causing the target to directly see or not see something is hard, but disguising is easy. Those who are not targeted remain unaffected, which can lead to an unaffected being causing the illusion to break.
  • Telekinesis: The singer can lift objects from the world and move them at will. Larger and heavier objects require a stronger song.
  • Levitation: The singer can float into the air and control their movement. Tends to be slower than walking and is limited to stronger singers.
  • Inspiration: Inspires emotions in the target, such as fear, bravery, happiness, or trust. Some stronger singers can use this to cause some other behaviors in people, such as energy, speed, or strength.
  • Distraction: Causes the targets to focus on the song rather than anything else. Only works on weak minded creatures, stronger minded ones will notice the attempted distraction. Some targets have been reported to start dancing.
  • Control: Causes the singer's will to be inflicted on the target. Only works on weak minded creatures, and requires a strong singer to perform. Cannot easily be performed along side another song or on multiple targets.
  • Animation: With enough concentration, a strong singer can animate inanimate objects, such as stones. If the singer is injured during the process, the animated object may fall back to inanimate objects.
