Its very hard to tell what you mean by just looking at this picture, since we do not have another picture that looks OK to compare it too, thus allowing us to see what you actually mean by bad and/or the The only suggestion I have for you is to look at the F+ plugin where Nick added the VDSM support for that plugin and see if that gives you any hints as to what your problem might be. Hi,
the shadow techniques available in the osg are all weak. I figured out in
"most" of the cases the VDSM is behaving the best - with the least
artifacts but they are present as you have experienced. We are aware of
this. Solution for this is to implement a new one and I vote for Cascaded
SM. There is osg implementation of this in the osgEarth project so if you
feel you can try to isolate it and implement it in OpenIG Or you can
contract ComPro or me, or even the best, the author of osgShadow which is

Hello,
Looking at what is going on, its hard to tell if this is related to OpenIG
or with the underlying OpenSceneGraph. Have you already isolated the issue to OpenIG and not anything with OSG directly. You can enable/disable OIG plugins and see if its showing up with only a certain OIG plugin enabled, just comment one out in your openig.xml datafile at a time and see if the problem is resolved or not.
The other option is to post this issue on the OSG forums and see if someone there might have be able to help you.
If not there are some paid options that you can utilize from us to get some more detailed help and support.

Thanks for your support. I have one more question @trajcenikolovnick : Is Cascade SM good for huge scene? I wanna develop an flight simulator so I need the shadow technique which can display in huge/large terrain. |
hi,
I am not a shadows techniques guru but for large scale with cascaded SM
osgEarth can be a good proof where you have the whole earth model in ECEF.
Cascaded SM works maybe the best in both cases, close and far scale scenery

Hi.
I have a problem after switch to vdsm shadow. I add entity with addEntity() function and shadow display very bad and make display frame rate down. How can i fix this problem. I attach image to show the problem. Thanks you.
