For anyone concerned about latest data change: #1397

Nothing is ok. We're dealing with a good example of poor data management. |

Why within the last week Recovery numbers for just the US are no longer being reported? On 3/17 the recovery numbers in the US was 17 (That was the last number ever reported in the date series feed), but on 3/18 the US recovery jumped to 106. Followed by 108, 147, 171 and yesterday number was 178. Today it is 0! and now recovery is not longer part of the date series. The nation is literally dependent on this and yet a university, which I had value and respect for, Appears to be hiding data that was once valued |
|
@theronrr - Its more way more likely that the data format change broke dependent files than some sort of mass political conspiracy. |

As Gibbs rule #39 would say there is no such thing as a coincidence. May not be political, but smells it. Now if recovery numbers are deemed unimportant and disappear everywhere, then you have something big. China will be considered fully out of crisis within about a week. So recovery numbers are important as they track the state of the health of an area. |
It's important to note that the changes described in #1250 did NOT include the change to the CSV column headers in the csse_covid_19_data/csse_covid_19_daily_reports folder - see comments on e748b6d |
If you guys are like me, you may not have realized the data schema had changed the till your apps stopped working. Many of us might be new to GitHub and some of us are analysts that may not've had to use GitHub before. Some of us might be analysts that have recently been laid off✋ And this project has become a way to stay busy and sane during this terrible crisis.
Just wanted to put a couple things out there.
#1.) Everything is ok. Here's a link to where they gave a good indicator that data would be changing. #1250
#2.) I just wanted to reach out personally to anybody that might be working on this project from an emotional standpoint. This has been a really tough time for me and maybe you guys are going through some stuff too. Please keep your head up and know that Jesus loves you, God loves you, or whoever you might want to think about loves you. This is a really tough crisis. Please take care of yourselves and let's all do our best to keep our heads up. Love what you do!!! Remember why you do it! Maybe, just maybe our individual efforts can pay off, and perhaps in the long run our work on this project might help us get some skills we can use in the future.
Stay safe, everyone.
