E.g. .foo * or just *.

It's a silly thing to do and easy to catch.

While * is always a bad idea, I would be more forgiving with .foo > * – it’s not as CPU-expensive because parser needs to check only one element - the immediate parent.

Yes... for every node, that is. But it's of course a lot less awful than doing the same with the descendant combinator.
