Bond-Market-Integration 🧾

ML model that predicts the level of bond market integration between different countries or regions. Bond market integration refers to the degree to which bond markets in different economies are interconnected and exhibit similar behaviors.

Overview

This project aims to analyze and predict bond market integration using machine learning techniques. Specifically, I focus on the microeconomics of bond market integration issues and leverage the power of TabNet, a deep learning model specifically designed for tabular data analysis.

Bond Market Integration

Bond market integration refers to the extent to which different bond markets across countries or regions are connected and operate as a unified market. It measures the level of harmonization, integration, and efficiency in bond markets. Bond market integration is crucial for several reasons:

  1. Capital Allocation: Integrated bond markets facilitate efficient capital allocation by providing investors with a broader range of investment opportunities and improving liquidity.

  2. Risk Diversification: Investors can diversify their portfolios by accessing bond markets in different countries or regions, thereby reducing risk through geographic diversification.

  3. Price Discovery: Integrated bond markets enhance price discovery by aggregating information from various sources and participants, leading to more accurate bond pricing.

TabNet - Tabular Neural Networks

TabNet is a deep learning architecture that combines the strengths of neural networks and decision trees for effective handling of structured data. It utilizes a sparse attention mechanism to select important features and make predictions, making it interpretable and robust to noisy or irrelevant features. By using TabNet, we can uncover meaningful insights and accurately predict bond market integration.

Usage

  3. Call the train method to train the TabNet model on the dataset.
  4. Call the predict method to make predictions on new data.
