It seems as if the poolboy folks are not willing to take on the responsibility for this, so this needs to be done elsewhere in some part of ChicagoBoss or its dependencies.

As an example, on my dev machine, CB is holding open 5 postgres instances (defined in boss_db_sup.erl) even though it's only using one. There should be code to dynamically back off this usage when DB resources are not used. We are using CB in a resource-constrained environment where it'd be nice to avoid wasting memory. Clearly, the needs of users who may be using CB on large web sites should also be taken into account.
