-> How to troubleshoot this issue further?

Operating System is Ubuntu 10.10. and Erlang version is:

Erlang R13B03 (erts-5.7.4) [source] [smp:2:2] [rq:2] [async-threads:0] [hipe] [kernel-poll:false]

Try to run ./rebar -v compile instead of just make. Most probably you don't have installed the packages erlang-dev, erlang-src, erlang-eunit and maybe more.

Can we just get this one out of here? Seems like it's a non issue.

+1 to close this. New rebar plugin works great.
