Mac OS X 10.4’s daemon(3) does not immediately break pbpaste under tmux like it does under 10.5 and later. The pasteboard is accessible under stock tmux until the GUI session is logged out. If a tmux session outlasts the GUI session, it will lose access to the pasteboard.
10.4’s libSystem does not contain either the (private) function _vprocmgr_move_subset_to_user (see (e.g.) libvproc.c from 10.5.8’s launchd-258.25) or the (even more private) vproc_mig_* functions used to implement it.
Is the source to (e.g.) vproc_mig_move_subset (from 10.5 or 10.6) available? If so, it might be possible to “back port” the required functions, but even that might be tenuous.
I would like to find a way to better support 10.4, but I have run out of good ideas for now.
