# About the Port

This version of JaizMod comes from two original projects by Jaiz:

- [Jaiz Mobs](https://github.com/Jaiz15/jaizmobs-mod)

JaizMod is the direct, larger continuation, while Jaiz Mobs holds an earlier set of creatures. They overlap in a few places but neither one completely replaces the other. That is why this port combines them instead of asking players to install two separate jars. Where both projects had a Snail, the fuller JaizMod version was kept.

I am ChromusMaster. I took on the 26.2 port as a personal challenge after speaking with the original developer. My job here was to get the old content running on current Fabric, join the two projects without losing the extra mobs, and work through the crashes that showed up during real testing. It was not an attempt to take over the original work or put my name in front of it.

All rights and credits for the original code, art, music, sounds, creatures and ideas remain with Jaiz and the original contributors. The author and contributor list included with the mod is part of that credit. If something in this release is memorable, odd or charming, the creative credit belongs to the people who made the originals.

The road to the first working 26.2 build was not especially straight. The two mods had several Minecraft releases to cross, and an early build doing well on paper did not mean it would survive a real world. There were missing names, creatures that would not appear correctly, recipes and loot that needed checking, a black startup screen, crashes during play and one world-creation screen that never seemed to finish. Combining the projects also exposed duplicated files and the two different Snails. Each round of testing removed another problem until the combined mod could finally be played normally.

Version `2.1.3+26.2` is the point being treated as the initial public port. That does not mean every balance quirk has been redesigned. The intention was to preserve the old character first and make broader changes later, if they are really needed.
