Somehow my commit to make boonie hats craftable got added to this PR. It was meant to be just the legrig addition.

I think a lot of the military type gear should be find only to keep efficiency balance until the player gets high enough levels to craft the survivor gear, but that's just my opinion.

I was planning to make all the fairly simple stuff that you could build with simple tools and materials craftable. Things like drop leg pouches, chest rigs and boonie hats. A lot of the military armor/clothing has plastic components that couldn't be easily made with primitive gear.

I don't think it's unbalanced to be able to craft these things because they provide similar or less protection/storage to other things craftable with mid-level tailoring.

Yeah, miljacket and pants aren't craftable, by design. I'm not sure why one couldn't make a boonie hat though, and IIRC the drop leg pouches are kinda cumbersome when stacked, so I've no serious problem with making them craftable.

Any other opinions?

Why not include the chest rig as well?

There's no metal involved in your recipe for the chestrig, so fine metalsawing and soldering seem out of place.

Come to think of it, exactly what are you hammering in this recipe?

The hammering in legrig and soldering and sawing in chestrig were for molding the plastic chunks into buckles and things.

In recipes, we use tools for their intended purpose, otherwise it gets way too confusing to reason about what tools you might want to use for a task.

Looking at the description for the plastic mold, that's definitely what should be used for the plastic components. I thought it was just for arrowheads.

OK, good, I didn't miss that. Hadn't seen the leg-rig update when I pulled, didn't want a repeat of the other day (PR getting updated w/o my knowing, so I mergetest and merge the code that wasn't final).
