Will hope it's an acceptable way to make anvils more accessible to those who have the raw materials to make it. The welding goggle's need for bolt-turning can be handled by someone else, while this at least adds more options in a simple way. X3 |

Maybe. Could also add the log as an alternative recipe, I suppose? owo Though the end product for that should probably be constructed rather than crafted... EDIT: Hmm. For the standard crafted anvil, steel platting in addition to the frames, or as an alternative source of raw metal? Because no idea if nested requirements like "lumps of steel OR (frames AND plates)" would work, never tried that. EDIT 2: Yeah, it won't let me add the idea of adding steel plates plus frames as a single component. It would need its own recipe. |

Yet another PR related to bootstrapping of blacksmithing. Assuming you have the metal and access to woodland resources, the weak link in the process is crafting an anvil. If you don't have 40 lumps of steel, you'll need welding goggles to combine smaller metals, and if you lack welding goggles you need to scavenge for/start with a spray can and some pliers/a wrench.
Discussed a few alternatives in a thread ( http://smf.cataclysmdda.com/index.php?topic=11518.0 ) before deciding that fleshing out the existing anvil recipe would be easier than adding a stone anvil.
For reference:
54000 grams: Weight of an anvil.
1360 grams: Lump of steel, would need 40.
340 grams: Lump of steel, would need 159 (rounded up to 160)
13607 grams: Steel frame, would need 4.
26000 grams: Heavy duty frame, would need 3 (rounded down to 2).
Two breaches of mass conservation to maintain a consistent appearance, which can be altered if deemed necessary.
