Here's some of the differentiation-stuff I was talking about on the forums. It's intended to break the Lizard category out a bit, reduce crossover, etc.

In particular, the new eyes make IR vision reasonably achievable with less mutagen use and add flavor. The Tail is perhaps a bit nicer than necessary, but we can discuss that.

Got a fair amount more like these in the tank if people want 'em.

Lizard Differentiation
Lizard-y goodness: broke their eyes out into their own line and gave 'em
their own tail. (Which is now the prereq for Club Tail, but I'm pretty
open to changing that. Only critter to get that...will be the Chimera,
if that lands. So far it doesn't actually have a category. )
Tail Support
This makes the tail actually confer the Dodge bonus and administer the
whapping. It's strictly better than the Long Tail; I'm open to knocking
the bonus down to 1 if people like.
IR support
Here's where IR-vision mods go. I think.
Extra close-paren
Fix'd.

The lack of an atomic firebreath attack leads me to believe that my dreams of becoming minigodzilla shall have to remain just that for now.

You'd also need Back Plates, if I remember my old toy Godzilla figure correctly. And Regeneration at about another order/magnitude or two. Lemme know when the devs are willing to accept Nether mutations and I'll look into it.

Just tossing this out: I noticed that the Lizard category holds Very Heat Dependent, but not Cold-Blooded. Do you think Cold-Blooded should be included in the Lizard category, given that they are reptiles?

@ianestrachan Yeah, that would make sense. My only concern is whether that becomes a serious "Purify NOW" issue with winters and the Ice Labs. (Lava isn't precisely common and doesn't have any substantive content.)

If nobody else minds, I'll throw it in. I haven't played in months. :-)

AFAIK lava/heat doesn't increase the speed of cold-blooded players (ADOM style, drakeling in the tower of eternal flames) - I think it's only a "decrease for each degree under 65F".

While it would be interesting if it did since low temperatures are more common than high ones, it might also make people just wear lots of blankets all the time. Lizard mutant ghost thing!

You're right, it doesn't speed people up. However, I don't think blankets would help: I think it's strictly external temperature, not body-temp. (For Cold-Blooded, at least, it ought to be external temperature: CB means you don't produce sufficient body heat on your own!)

So lava would be a necessity for maintaining reasonable character-utility during cold periods, unless one had a helluva lot of fire fuel.

It might not be a bad idea to up it to Cold-Blooded but it's worth mentioning that putting on layers would make a cold-blooded creature /colder/ (or at the very least not warmer... Can anyone confirm this?) in reality due to the way cold blood works. That said, all the "heat dependant" mutations seem to be cold-blood related just how much the creature is affected by the cold. It's really a matter of balance, that said I don't know if making them function better in hot weather is 'realistic' but it'd make for a nice flipside. (Horrible in the winter, OP in the summer)

With the Lizard Man not objecting, it's upped.

Once things stabilize, making people able to hibernate might be worth considering. Not much time now.
