What happened to punk rock girl? It was harsh enough making her cost four points, even though she's got no skills or anything useful beyond her refillable lighter, so why did she have to get deleted entirely? Also, why is it the only option to start with women's clothing the crackhead now? Not everyone wants to play a dude. |

@Rivet-the-Zombie maybe what we need is gender-specific item starts per profession? I imagine we're lacking in female clothes for starts because most of the "male" clothing is to some degree gender-neutral, but the ones that are obviously female are, well, obviously female. |

I'm just unhappy to see my favorite profession get deleted. There's no equivalent for it here, it's just gone. |

@Rivet-the-Zombie Maybe swwu is right; the appropriate way to handle this situation is to have the ability to select genders for professions. So you'd have punk-rock girl / punk-rock guy, and you select which one you'd like at the start. Instead of making it two separate professions, make it so that when you select the singular profession, you have the option of switching genders if it's supported for that profession. |

That's a good idea!
Punk rock girl has been completely deleted with no equivalent given. |

There's a recent forum thread that brought that up, pretty straightforward. |

Yeah, PRG was a flavorful profession. Cata's poorer without it. Here's the (most relevant, IMO) thread on gendering professions: http://smf.cataclysmdda.com/index.php?topic=4400.0 I imagine GlyphGryph clearly laid out his balancing ideas somewhere. (Profession doesn't/have fire/cutting/lumbering/broadly applicable skill, etc) Trouble is, I'm not sure where/when that was, and the forum search engine isn't being particularly useful. |

Ah, sorry, I actually pulled that over - must have lost it again when I updated the file. Noticed that I lost dancer and biker and re-added those, missed the PRG. Please don't merge until I get that added, let me know if any others are missing. |

Okay, I think that's all of them now. Even threw in an extra. |

As a note, I am still 100% opposed to limiting profession choices by gender, and while it might get in if someone implements and convinces others to agree with them, I'm having a hard time decided why reducing the subset of of existing choices available to a player is a positive thing. |

@GlyphGryph, who said anything about limiting the selection of professions by gender? I just think it would be useful to have gender selectable professions, so that they can be customized by gender, without needing separate professions. Just as an example, in the case of prostitute, selecting male would start you out in chaps and boots, but selecting female would start you out in heels, a top and skirt. Of course, you shouldn't be limited into what gender you select for a profession based on the gender of your character. Options are always good, and it's just a way to give players more options. |

Battery System != Metabolic Interchange. Should probably change the description. Something like "and it all runs on off-the-shelf batteries!" or somesuch? |

RabbitB, if that's all you want, it will be completely subsumed by the profession variation system I plan on introducing (or getting someone else to introduce) where a given profession can be alternated to start with a variety of similar starting equipment. Simply having a version with masculine and feminine clothes would work, and even allowing multiple variations thereof. |
GlyphGryph commentedNov 29, 2013
Finished updating all professions this time, or adding equivalent alternatives based on new balance system.
There should be equivalents for all of them this time.
