An EGP, or Exterior Gateway Protocol is another Routing Protocol used to exchange routing information from one router to the next. EGP is used to convey routing information between organizations and is De-coupled from the IGP.
EGP enables scaling for large networks. It also allows there to be an Administrative Boundary between the normal and administrative networks.
The current most used EGP is BGP (Border Gateway Protocol)
