Ability to set ticket release time #409
Comments
Would like to hear how high of a priority this feature is for the community. |
high priority for us, will probably prevent us from using ZEN at all and I don't like that idea ... was hoping we could start using soon, that's why I'm also contributing to the Dutch translations |
Thanks Ursula! |
Thanks for the support - we rely on volunteers to build features for Zen, and it is fully open source. If you know anyone interested in contributing, do point them to the readme! |
Some guidelines for @FDelporte:
Send me a Slack message with any questions! |
we would like this feature too "Ability to set ticket release time"!!! |
This has high priority for multiple dojo's in the Netherlands. We have migrated / are migrating from EventBrite to Zen and this is one of the major features that we are missing now. |
Should use seneca-kue. See polls for example of usage. Should store release time/date in a new field in cd_events for modifying if necessary. Field should be locked after the tickets are released. |
@rosalanghammer I have a couple of questions regarding this issue:
|
1. Ticket release time should be per event not per session. I see this as
an option on when you publish the full event so the event is viewable but
not bookable until x day, time set and the notification is pushed at that
set date/time. This way users can see all the next events but can't book.
(It should also show the ticket release date/time if possible).
2. Yes, specific time as well as date down to minute & hour. Be wary of
timezones on this as we do not want Dojos to set 9am US time and then have
it send in the middle of the night if autoset to GMT. Make sense?

Should ticket release date be set per session (and apply to all
tickets in that session) or per ticket and apply to that ticket only?
2.
Should tickets have a specific release time as well as a date and if
so how specific should this time be (down to the minute or hour)?

@rosalanghammer Makes sense, thanks :) |
I agree on : 'the event should be made that tickets are visible without being bookable' I understand how .. extensive it can be to declare a release date for each ticket that's why i proposed to @grabartley to group the date by session rather than "by ticket". |
Fair, I think individual ticket release is one of the most annoying
features of Eventbrite. Problem with session by session release is that it
has to be repeated each time if you want the entire event to release
tickets at the same time (which is the most common scenario). Very rare
that a Dojo would do session by session release unless they are a very
large Dojo with different time slots for each session and different
managers for each session.
Going to seek feedback on the forums/slack for this.

But all along the discussion has been around ticket release date (not
event tickets release date), particularly on the eventbrite model.

The interest in setting a "open to book" date to an event is very
different from a ticket release. The first is to avoid people booking for
all the events available, the second is to channel people influx at a time
being.
The first does the second, but in a very different way.

Request from community member to be able to release tickets at a given time (i.e. you'll set up the tickets but they will be automatically released at a given time). Like Eventbrite.
"We usually sell out and have a waiting list (we're the only Dojo in a county of 2 million). So we try to make sure we release tickets at the same time every week."
