gem "compass-rails", github: "milgner/compass-rails", ref: "1749c06f15dc4b058427e7969810457213647fb8"

seems to work.

Anyone else find it sad that this branch has been around for months but the compass team hasn't been able to fix their code before rails 4 was released?

Yes. I feel sad. But until 1 month ago and for about the last year, I was working 80 hours a week at a startup that didn't have room for me to work on OSS and I was trying to take care of my family as we were going through some rough times. Things have improved in my life, I have a new job that supports my open source efforts, and I'm trying to get compass "back on the rails" as it were. But it's a lot of work. Rails completely changed their asset system, AGAIN. and now I have to go learn a new system to build a plugin that I won't personally be using.

So, I'm sorry that this totally free, open source framework and plugin is was not as well maintained as it should be. I wish my life hadn't got fucked up. but it did and now you can't upgrade the very second rails is released.

Goddamn. Well said Chris. Thank you so much for all the effort you've put into Compass. You have simplified my life exponentially. That is the truth. I hope that knowing you positively change lives for designers and developers on a daily basis makes you happy :) We need more selfless people like you in this world :)

Take your time. Happy developers make for happy software.

Chris, remember that for every negative remark that pops up there are hundreds of us that are grateful and enjoy using Compass. I appreciate the tremendous effort that goes into such a big project and all the time you do get to dedicate to it.

This is a great tool and you are always helpful and responsive, so thank you for all your time and effort.

@chriseppstein Sorry if I offended. I appreciate the work that goes into maintaining an open source project. Just seems strange that whatever fix milgner's branch addressed didn't get merged into the rails4 branch here

Haters are gonna hate. Fuck them. Chris, thanks for saving my ass with Compass so many times.

@aaronchi I explained why I haven't had time. And now I have a long backlog of work and many of those things are more important than this. Code doesn't magically land just because it's written. It's work to merge a branch, to review it, to understand it so that it can be maintained. Please, by all means, if this is so straightforward, fork this project and start doing the work. This is the fourth comment you've made on our issue tracker today that is dripping with entitlement, as such, this is the last reply you will get from me on this subject. Our currency in open source software is good will, and you just ran out of it.

One can't expect an OSS developer to do all the things ... most of the times the person shows the way and the enthusiasts should take it from there ... Thank You @chriseppstein for the awesome COMPASS ... we, especially i am grateful to you for making my css coding life easy.

I'm new to SASS and Compass and I barely managed to scratch their surface but I feel strongly when I say that Compass is amazing and Chris is pure awesomeness! Thank you!

Well said Chris. Having known you personally (albeit, briefly and only over a single lunch), I can attest that you are a humble and hard worker with a heart towards OSS and helping us devs and designers create better stuff faster. I appreciate everything and look forward to more. 👍
