I was receiving errors when attempting to include the susy plugin in my application. When using the rails configuration files instead of the compass file you must include config.compass.require "susy" or compass can't locate the plugin.

ive never had to add the require in this way... just curious if you are using the cli?

No. Just letting rails take care of everything. If I followed the instructions in the readme, but without adding that line I was getting - 'No such framework: "susy"'

I could see susy et. al. come down when running bundler like so:

Using sass (3.1.11)
Using compass (0.12.1)
Using compass-rails (1.0.1)
Using compass-susy-plugin (0.9)

and the base.scss was importing susy, but I would still get that error.

no problem was just curious
