The term J II was partially used for the 1930 built in the Dornier headquarter Manzell Wal flying boats . Larger and more powerful than its predecessor flew the Do J II as 8 - ton "Wal" and 1933 as more advanced 10 - ton "Wal". Lufthansa put them in their South Atlantic airmail service with catapult ships.
